Nancy Maryanne Dow (July 22, 1936 – May 25, 2016) was an American actress who appeared in a small group of films and television shows. She was married to actor John Aniston with whom she had a daughter, Jennifer Aniston.[2]

Early life[edit]

Dow was born in Connecticut, one of six daughters of Louise (née Grieco) and Gordon McLean Dow. Her maternal grandfather, Louis Grieco, was an Italian immigrant;[3] her other ancestry included English, Scottish and Irish.[4] Dow had five sisters: Linda, Martha, Sally, Joan and Jean.

Personal life[edit]

Dow was also married to John T. 'Jack' Melick Jr., a pianist-bandleader who was based in Dallas from 1956 to 1961.[5] The couple had one son, John T. Melick III (born 1959),[5] an assistant director and second-unit director.

Memoir

Dow and her daughter Jennifer were estranged for nine years, partially because Dow wrote a book about their relationship, entitled From Mother and Daughter to Friends: A Memoir (1999).[6] In 2005, after Aniston's divorce from Brad Pitt, she and her mother reportedly reconciled. Aniston described the gradual progress of her new relationship with her mother: 'It's been really nice. It's crazy what, you know, your life kind of being turned upside down will lead you to. ... For us it's ... It was the time and it was going to happen when it was supposed to happen. So this is good. It's baby steps.'[7]

Health and death[edit]

In 2011 and 2012, Dow had several strokes, which affected her ability to speak and walk. On the morning of May 23, 2016, she was taken by ambulance from her home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. She died two days later at 79 years old.[8]

The Sun recently published a misleading headline about Jennifer Aniston and urging Jolie to watch out because the Friends star is, reportedly, writing a memoir.

The publication also said that the memoir could tackle Aniston’s love triangle with Pitt and Jolie. But upon closer inspection, The Sun was simply rehashing a story from Us Weekly in June.

Jennifer Aniston Book Recommendations

Back then, rumors swirled that Aniston has been keeping a journal all her life.

“It’s just a matter of her and her reps deciding the time is right to release something,” a source said.

But that’s the only information mentioned by The Sun about Aniston’s memoir. It is unclear where their statement that she will release her journals and discuss her alleged love triangle with Pitt and Jolie came from.

The Sun then talked about Aniston’s recent revelation that she almost quit acting two years ago.

“It was after a job I had completed and I was like, ‘Whoa, that was really… that sucked the life out of me. And I don’t know if this is what interests me,’” she said.

But Jennifer Aniston had a change of heart after she was cast in The Morning Show.

The actress will talk about Brad Pitt, Justin Theroux in her memoir

Rumors about Aniston writing a memoir have been rife for years. In July, Us Weekly claimed that the actress will be talking about Pitt and Justin Theroux in her memoir.

A source claimed that Aniston cannot share details about her life if she won’t recount the highs and lows of her past relationships. But since she’s friends with Pitt and Theroux, it’s unlikely for her to say anything negative about them.

“Jen’s very clear that she harbors no ill will toward Brad for what happened. And they’ve well and truly moved past it. Jen’s proud of the mature dynamic they’ve managed to establish. Ultimately, all the experiences she’s been through have helped shape Jen as a person, so she’s keen not to shrink any aspect of her life,” the source said.

But three months have passed and there’s still no update regarding Aniston’s memoir. As such, it is easy to confirm that the claims made by the magazine are incorrect.

A rep for Jennifer Aniston also confirmed that the actress has no plans to write a memoir now or anytime in the future.
